Clark University Welcomes International Students

Clark University in America offers exceptional opportunities for international students seeking undergraduate education in a diverse and vibrant community. With students from over 80 nations, Clark prides itself on creating a global learning environment where different perspectives enrich the educational experience for everyone.

Located in the heart of New England, Clark seeks community-oriented students who believe in personal growth and making positive impacts. The university values those who want to improve their lives, environment, systems, and tools—embracing the idea that there's no single right path forward.

Who Qualifies as an International Student?

Clark University defines international students as those who:

  • Do not hold U.S. citizenship

  • Do not hold U.S. Permanent Residency (green card holders)

Application Requirements

International students can apply through Regular Decision, Early Action, or Early Decision following the same deadlines as domestic applicants. All application documents must be submitted in English, with certified translations if necessary.

Application Checklist:

  • Common Application OR Coalition App with Scoir (no application fee)

  • Transcripts from the last three years of education

  • Two letters of recommendation (one from school counselor, one from teacher)

  • Proof of English language proficiency

  • SAT or ACT scores (optional for all students)

  • CSS Profile (only if applying for need-based aid)

English Language Proficiency Requirements

If English is not your native language, you must provide an official TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, or Pearson PTE score report. While there are no strict minimum scores, these general indicators are recommended:

  • TOEFL iBT: 85 overall, with no sub-score below 20

  • IELTS: 6.5 overall, with no sub-score below 6

  • Duolingo: 120 overall, with no sub-score below 100

  • PTE: 61 overall, with no sub-score below 55

If you meet academic requirements but need language support, Clark may recommend their English for Academic Success Program or Undergraduate Pathway Programs.

Interview Process

While optional, interviews are strongly encouraged, especially for non-native English speakers. Interviews help the admissions team get to know you beyond your application and can serve as a supplementary measurement of English proficiency. You can:

  • Sign up for an in-person or virtual interview

  • Submit an interview via InitialView or Vericant

  • Email intadmissions@clarku.edu to request a virtual interview if needed

Scholarships and Financial Aid

All admitted students, regardless of citizenship, are automatically considered for merit scholarships with no separate application required. International students can also apply for need-based financial aid by completing the CSS Profile.

The prestigious Presidential Scholarship covers tuition, room, and board, with recipients responsible for approximately $10,000 per year in additional costs. This highly competitive scholarship is awarded to only 3-5 students annually. First-year applicants for the Fall semester can indicate their interest on their application.

It's important to note that while Clark provides substantial merit and need-based aid, international students typically pay around $40,000 per year after scholarships and aid, with the total cost of attendance being approximately $75,000 per year.

Clark's admissions process is need-aware, meaning your financial need may impact the admissions decision. Applications may be denied if the indicated financial need exceeds what Clark can offer.
