Prince Mugrin bin Abdulaziz University (UPM) in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, offers Academic Excellence scholarships to high-achieving new undergraduates. The university says its admissions and scholarships are open to Saudis, non-Saudis and international students.
Applications for 2026-27 closed on July 30, 2026. The next round has not been announced. In 2026 the admission period ran from June 14 to August 30, and scholarship applications were due by the end of July.
The two Excellence scholarships
| Excellence (A) | Excellence (B) | |
|---|---|---|
| Tuition covered | 100% | 70% |
| Weighted average needed | 97% or higher | 94% or higher |
| Places (2026-27) | 30 | 40 |
Excellence (A) scholars also receive a monthly allowance of 1,000 Saudi riyals and economy class tickets each semester if they come from outside the Madinah region.
How candidates are ranked
The weighted average is made up of the Achievement Test score (40%), the Aptitude Test score (30%) and the high school GPA (30%). The English language test score carries 20% of the weight in selection.
Selection is competitive. To keep the scholarship, students must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 out of 4. It covers up to 31 credit hours in the preparatory year and the credit hours of the study plan after that.
Other options at UPM
The university also lists corporate scholarships, charitable organisation scholarships, partial scholarships and a national scholarship, and it admits students in the second semester too.
