About the Fujii International Scholarship
Established in 2006 and converted to a public-interest foundation in 2012, the Fujii International Scholarship Foundation aims to support exceptional international students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and financial need. The scholarship also works to foster stronger ties between Japan and other countries, particularly across Asia.
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants will receive:
Monthly stipend of ¥50,000
Scholarship duration based on program level:
Undergraduate: up to 3 years
Master's: up to 2 years
Doctoral: up to 3 years
The scholarship will be paid in four installments per academic year, starting from April 2026. It's important to note that the funding does not extend beyond the regular duration of your academic program.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the Fujii International Scholarship, applicants must:
Currently reside in Japan with a "Student" residence status (留学 visa)
Be enrolled as a regular student (research students are not eligible)
Not be receiving or expecting to receive any other scholarship in 2026
Be in good academic standing, healthy, and able to participate in foundation-hosted events
Be a citizen of one of the eligible countries or regions
Meet the age requirements as of March 31, 2026:
Undergraduate: 25 years or younger
Master's: 30 years or younger
Doctoral: 35 years or younger
Eligible Nationalities
The scholarship is open to citizens from the following 21 countries and 2 regions:
India, Indonesia, Cambodia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, South Korea, China, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Timor-Leste, Bhutan, Philippines, Brunei, Vietnam, Malaysia, Myanmar, Maldives, Mongolia, Laos, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

The application deadlines vary by university:
Tokushima University (Josanjima Area): Friday, August 29, 2025 (Documents must be submitted to the International Affairs Division)
All other universities: June 2 to September 30, 2025
