The Rae and George Hammer Memorial Visiting Research Fellowship helps research students and postdoctoral researchers from universities outside Brisbane visit the University of Queensland's Fryer Library to use its collections.
Applications are open all year and are assessed at the end of March, July and October.
What the fellowship pays
The Fryer Library may award up to $2,500 a year, to one winner or split between several. The money covers a research trip to the library, including travel, accommodation, living expenses and research costs, and library staff help winners access the collections.
The collections include Australiana, rare books, literary and political papers, architectural plans and the papers of notable UQ scholars and alumni.
Who can apply
Applicants must be enrolled in an Honours, Master's or PhD programme, or doing postdoctoral research, at a university outside Brisbane, and must show that primary sources held by the Fryer Library matter to their research.
What to submit
A CV and academic transcript
An outline of your project and its link to the Fryer collections, under 500 words
A statement of support from a lecturer or supervisor, under 250 words
Your proposed visit dates and a budget, with quotes where possible
Winners have 12 months to make the visit and receive the money after accepting in writing and showing a travel booking. They then write a short account of the visit, a report within three months, and share a copy of the finished research.
